Requirement
A large private residence of approximately 1,700m² required heating, cooling, ventilation, hot water and pool heating from a single renewable source, with minimal visible plant.
Challenge
Meeting the peak heating demand of a house this size while also providing cooling and pool load — without a fossil-fuel backup — required careful borehole sizing and a hydronic strategy that could share the ground array across several duties.
Solution
Solux designed and installed an 80kW ground source heat pump system fed by a borehole array, with extensive underfloor heating, MVHR ventilation, passive (free) cooling drawn directly from the ground loop, and pool heating integrated into the same plant.
Systems installed
- 80kW ground source heat pump
- Borehole ground array
- Extensive underfloor heating across all floors
- MVHR whole-house ventilation
- Passive cooling from the ground loop
- Swimming pool heating
Heating, hot water, ventilation, cooling and pool duty delivered from one ground array, with passive cooling available at pump-only running cost.
