Ground Source Heat Pumps

Ground source heat pump systems draw heat from the stable temperature below ground, giving the highest seasonal efficiency of any heat pump type — and the option of passive cooling at pump-only running cost.

  1. 01CollectA sealed loop circulates through boreholes, absorbing ground heat.
  2. 02UpgradeThe heat pump lifts that heat to usable flow temperatures.
  3. 03ReverseIn summer the same loop provides passive cooling at pump-only cost.
How it works

Stable ground temperature, year round

Boreholes or horizontal arrays circulate a sealed loop through the ground. The heat pump upgrades that low-grade heat to usable flow temperatures for underfloor heating, hot water and pool duty.

What you gain

  • Highest seasonal efficiency of any heat pump type
  • Passive cooling with no compressor running
  • No visible external plant
  • Long design life on the ground array

What we deliver

  • Heat loss calculations and ground array sizing
  • Borehole drilling coordination and header pit arrangement
  • Heat pump selection, cascade configuration and plant room layout
  • Buffer vessels, DHW cylinders and hydraulic separation
  • Passive cooling circuits and heat exchangers
  • Commissioning, balancing and handover documentation

How we work

Design to commissioning, one accountable contract

  1. 01

    Design

Heat loss and load calculations, system selection, plant room layout and coordination with the architect and structural team.

  2. 02

    Specification

Equipment selection, schematics, pipework and duct routing, and a costed mechanical package.

  3. 03

    Installation

First fix through second fix by our own engineers, sequenced with the main contractor's programme.

  4. 04

    Commissioning

Balancing, flow rates, controls setup, F-Gas checks and performance verification across every system.

  5. 05

    Handover & Support

O&M documentation, client demonstration, and ongoing servicing and maintenance.
