Air Source Heat Pumps

Air source heat pumps extract low-grade heat from ambient air and lift it to a usable flow temperature for heating and hot water — from a single unit on a private house to a cascaded rooftop array serving an entire development.

  1. 01AbsorbRefrigerant evaporates using heat from outside air, even at low temperatures.
  2. 02CompressA compressor raises the refrigerant's pressure and temperature.
  3. 03TransferA heat exchanger passes that heat into the heating and hot water circuits.
How it works

Heat drawn from outside air

An ASHP typically delivers three to four units of heat for every unit of electricity, with no combustion, flue or fuel storage on site.

What you gain

  • No on-site combustion or flue
  • Works with underfloor heating at low flow temperatures
  • Scales from one dwelling to central plant for dozens
  • Significant reduction in carbon emissions versus gas

What we deliver

  • Load assessment, unit selection and acoustic siting
  • Cascaded plant arrangements and structural coordination
  • Buffer, DHW and backup heat source integration
  • Primary distribution, risers and heat interface units
  • Weather compensation and controls
  • Commissioning and performance verification

Typically suited to

New-build and refurbishment residential projects, apartment developments and commercial buildings replacing gas plant.

How we work

Design to commissioning, one accountable contract

  1. 01

    Design

Heat loss and load calculations, system selection, plant room layout and coordination with the architect and structural team.

  2. 02

    Specification

Equipment selection, schematics, pipework and duct routing, and a costed mechanical package.

  3. 03

    Installation

First fix through second fix by our own engineers, sequenced with the main contractor's programme.

  4. 04

    Commissioning

Balancing, flow rates, controls setup, F-Gas checks and performance verification across every system.

  5. 05

    Handover & Support

O&M documentation, client demonstration, and ongoing servicing and maintenance.
